Alternative Method for Logging Mileage: Logging Mileage as a Work Type
If you prefer to log mileage as a simple unit (e.g., kilometres), you can create a Milage work type in Kala: To do so, you need to find the following two settings:
Work types and corresponding work type nr. Format:’Name(work type nr.);’.
Time types excluded from weekly total and with specific intervals.
- Create a New Work Type:
- Go to Settings > Advanced Settings and find the setting: Work types and corresponding work type nr. Format:’Name(work type nr.);’.
- Add the work type using the following format: Name (Work Type Number);
- Example:
Mileage (20);
- Adjust Work Type Settings:
- Customize the work type to fit mileage tracking under the setting: Time types excluded from weekly total and with specific intervals.
- Example format:
WorkType(20)=1000*1; - Where
1000is the maximum distance allowed (e.g., 1000 km).1allows logging distances as small as 1 km. Adjust these values as needed.

Log Mileage on the Weekly Timesheet
- Navigate to the Weekly Timesheet (by going to Timesheet in the left-hand menu) and find your newly created Mileage work type.
- Click + Add Line in the top-right corner.
- Choose the related project and log the distance for the relevant date.
